Prizes: Trophies and Olympic style medals to 1st,2nd,and 3rd place winners to individuals and teams in each section

USCF membership required, can join at tournament

No limit to number of players on team, but only top 4 scores will count for team total.

There will also be a non-rated tournament with an entry fee of $5 with Trophies to top 3, and an adult tournament EF $5, Prizes per entries.

Madden brothers win in Sardinia

 
  The Madden brothers had a good day at the Veterans Day tournament at Sardinia on Monday Nov 12. Ryan won with wins over James Lyon, Pat Patterson, and Ryan Palmisano while Ryan's brother Zach upset Pat Patterson in round 3 to finish in second place. Great job boys!
  James Lyon won the 5 player scholastic section while David Stefan won the unrated section over 6 other players.
 Remember Dec 1 is the date for the USA Jr Chess Olympics at Pioneer Middle school. Early team and individual entries will be greatly appreciated!

Adults: 3SS, G45, EF $10, ( may be changed to 4SS, G/30 depending on # of entries) Rds.:11am,1pm,2:30pm.

$50 first prize guaranteed!

Scholastic: 1-4pm Round Robin-Play as many games as possible in 3 hrs!

EF$5, Trophy for 1st place. All Scholastic players will receive a prize!

USCF VETERANS DAY MEMORIAL 2012

Presented by Garnell W. Whitfield Jr., City of Buffalo, Fire Commissioner and The Archangel 8 Chess Academy, celebrating over 12 years of educational enrichment youth chess programs.

We want to WELCOME and invite all Chess players for the start of the downtown Buffalo Winter USCF Chess season (November to June) on every third saturday of each month at the Main Place Mall, Upper level.

On Saturday, November 17, 2012 held at the Main Place Mall, Upper level, 390 Main Street, Buffalo, NY 14201. There is Free parking under the mall, please do not leave any valuables in the automobile. Boutiques and Food Court open during tournament play.

This is a United States Chess Federation Open dual rated chess tournament. USCF Membership required, USCF rules are enforced.

Each player will play 4 games, no elimination, game 50; 5 second delay with a digital chess clock. All players are required to bring their chess set, chess board and digital chess clock. All players are to report by 9am and Games will start at 9:30am, 11:30am, 1:15pm and 3pm.

PIZZA and Refreshments are provided for all paid tournament players! Come out and honor our veterans, FREEDOM isnt FREE!

Sections: There are four sections of play, Open section - Entry fee $25 v $30, U1500 section - EF $25 v $30, Scholastics K-3 and Scholastics K-12 - Entry Fee $10 v $15 Cash USD at the door.

Cash Prizes based on 18 paid entries in each section - Open $200 - $100 - $50, U1500 - $120 - $60 and $30. Please bring chess set, chess board and digital chess clock.

Scholastic Stars Section will be 4 USCF rated games, Game 30;d5. Trophies for Top 3 winners and Top Female. All Scholastic players are to report by 10am. Games will start at 10:30am, 11:30am, 12:30pm and 1:30pm.

Early bird registration must be received by Wednesday, November 14th, with reply online to arcangel8chess@yahoo.com with full name, uscf number, section, grade and telephone.

The December Holiday Chess Classic 2012 will be held on Sat Dec. 15, 2012 at the Main Place Mall, Buffalo, NY.

Just a reminder - no Sardinia tournament this Saturday. There will be one on Veterans Day, November 12. Details will be coming next week. Its also time to get your teams ready for the USA Jr Chess Olympics on Dec 1 at the Pioneer Middle School, Yorkshire NY.  We had 88 entries last year - can we make it to 100 this year?
