Hosted and presented by Garnell W. Whitfield Jr., Buffalo Fire Commissioner and The Archangel 8 Chess Academy, celebrating over 13 years of Enrichment Youth Chess programs in the Buffalo & WNY area. Buffalo's official affiliate with the US Chess Federation, the longest running and premier chess organization for coaching, training and mentoring young chess players prepared to play under a structured family friendly environment.

DAVID W. MC DUFFIE - PAWNMASTER SCHOLASTIC SECTION, EARLY BIRD ENTRY FEE IS $10.00 vs. $20.00 Cash at the door. Sections are K-5 and 6-10 Grades! Sections maybe combined depending on entries. Not USCF rated! This section is designed to expose players in a formal structured tournament play with writing notations and with a digital clock. Chess equipment provided for Scholastics K-10 Section. If you have a chess set, chess board and digital clock, please bring with you. You may bring snacks! Food Court will be open!

All scholastic players must report by 10am, Games start at 10:30am, 11:30am, 12:30pm and 1:30pm. Awards, Photos and Trophies awarded at 3pm.

BOSTON - TEXAS STRONG USCF MEMORIAL TOURNAMENT 2013



Results of the 2013 Boston - Texas Strong Memorial Tournament, drew a strong scholastic K-9 section which brought our total number of chess players to thirty five. Attracting players from Lockport NY, Dunkirk NY and Fredonia NY. New, renewed and returning USCF players were Patrick Robinson, Vince Woodard and Christopher Roland.

Results of the David W. Mc Duffie Memorial - "PawnMaster" Scholastic K-10 Section, where thirteen players from The Urban Knights Chess Club, Lockport Golden Knights Chess Club, Olmsted Golden Knights of 64 Chess Club, Buffalo Academy of Science Chess Club, Harris Hill Chess Club, Dunkirk NY Chess Club, Gloria J Parks Community Chess Club and Old First Ward Irish Buffalo Chess Club.

Trophies were sponsored by the David W. Mc Duffie - PawnMaster Foundation and The Mc Duffie Family. Horace Mc Duffie Jr., father of David, Cheryl and Michael, joined in the celebration and was honored to start each section of play.

Trophies were awarded to Undefeated K-10 CHAMPION - Dekayla S. Dubose and K-4 CHAMPION - Devon Walsh, TOP FEMALE AWARDS K-4 were Ruby Z. Soudant and TOP FEMALE AWARDS K-10 - Tiffany Jager(Dunkirk) and 2nd Place winners were K-4 Domenic Micciarello and K-10 Shaka E. Davis, 3rd Place winners were Yahnia Brown-Reynolds, Kevin Kovach and Andrew Pencille.

Winners in the Royal Patterson Jr. U1500 Memorial Section were Undefeated Champion Jerome J. Green, 2nd Place - Steve L. Baer and 3rd Place Tie were Glenn Conlin, Sam Santora and Christopher P. Roland.

The WENDY'S Restaurant UPSET winners were Alexis J. Schlaak, 2nd grader who defeated Dylan Teague(939)(Lockport NY) for 267 points, Steve L. Baer with 171 pts., Jerome J. Green with 31 pts and Samuel Santora with 27.5 pts.

The Archangel 8 Chess Academy is Buffalo's longest running Chess organization, an official affiliate of the US Chess Federation, the governing body of Chess in the United States, which host monthly local and premier International Chess (World Chess Federation)activities and special events around the western new york region.

Please join us on SATURDAY, APRIL 20, 2013 located at the Main Place Mall, 390 Main St, Upper Level, FREE Parking under the mall, Buffalo, NY. PIZZA and REFRESHMENTS ARE PROVIDED FOR PAID TOURNAMENT PLAYERS! Food Court and Boutique shops are open prior and during the tournament.

The monthly USCF Buffalo Spring Tournament, USCF membership is REQUIRED, will be Four Dual Rated Games, No elimination, GAME 50;d5! ALL PLAYERS MUST BRING A CHESS SET, CHESS BOARD AND DIGITAL CHESS CLOCK!

Available SECTIONS are OPEN, U1500, Scholastic K-4 and Scholastic 5th - 9th Grades!

FIRST ANNUAL LOCKPORT "THE LOCKS" CHESS CHAMPIONSHPS 2013



PRESENTED & HOSTED by The Lockport Youth Enrichment Chess program "GOLDEN KNIGHTS" and The Archangel 8 Chess Academy, an official affiliate of the United States Chess Federation, the governing body of all chess in the United States. Now serving over 13 years of enrichment youth chess programs in the Buffalo - Niagara Falls region.

SUNDAY, APRIL 21, 2013, PANERA BREAD RESTAURANT, 5744 SOUTH TRANSIT ROAD, LOCKPORT, NY 14094! All advanced entries and payments are greatly appreciated and must be received by Midnight on Thursday, April 18th, 2013 or reply with full name, section, grade, USCF ID#, if available, for seeding only, not rated games and telephone to KNIGHTSOF64@YAHOO.COM.

This Chess Championship is hosted to help identify, attract and grow Chess in the Lockport and Niagara County region, is open to all chess players of all ages and levels. All players must know "Check", "Checkmate" and US Chess Federation rules will be enforced (ie."Touch Move")!

All Chess players are asked to bring their chess set, chess board and digital chess clock. All players will play 4 games of chess and No elimination under a set time! Limited Supply of chess sets and boards are available!

There will be Three Sections: ADULT Open and High School will play 4 games, No Elimination, Game 50;d5, Scholastics K-4 and 5th - 9th Grades will play Game 30;d5, No Elimination! Sections may be combined depending on the number of entries!

ADULT & HIGH SCHOOL SCHEDULE: Entry Fee is $20 or $25 CASH at the Door, NO Checks! All players are to report by 1:30pm, Games will start promptly at 2pm, 3:15pm, 4:30pm and 5:45pm. Ryan Madden wins in Sardinia

    Ryan Madden won all 4 games he played and won the Sardinia Tournament last Saturday. Ryan was in good form as he defeated Ryan Palmisano, Carl Raymore, Chris Darling, and Pat Patterson. Patterson and Darling tied for 2nd-3rd with 3 wins while Palmisano won the u1200 prize, also with 3wins. Alexis Schlaak  had a fine tournament and won the u1000 prize with 2 pts. Other participants were Nathan Palmisano, Zach Madden, Wes Darling, Brad Schrock, Max Peters, Austen Harris, Ethen Warner, and Sidney Reed.

   In the scholastics, Hunter Witt won the rated section with 5.5 pts while Nathan Schiener had 5. Sidney Reed won the unrated trophy.

  Thanks to all for a fine turnout. Next tournament May 3. see you then!
