My Games at Marchand 2008

I have been late to post this. I obtained only 3.0/5.0 and I lost 14 rating points from 1784 to 1770. Not the best tourney for me, but certainly a lot to learn from. Round 1 - Harish Srinivasan(1784) vs David Miller(1465) 0-1 Round 2 - Kelly Charles III(1514) vs Harish Srinivasan(1784) 0-1 Round 3 - Harish Srinivasan(1784) VS John Frearson(1582) 1-0 Round 4- Agok, Peter Panther(1595) vs Harish Srinivasan(1784) 0-1 Round 5-Harish Srinivasan(1784) vs John Manning(1785) 0-1

  1. Thanks, Harish!
I guess in 1st game 34. ... Kc8 could not be right. Probably it is 34. ...Kd8. Otherwise why not N fork.

  2. In your third game, it looks like 7Ng4 leads to a good game for black

  3. Thanks Bob, I agree. Probably, 6.Be2 instead of Be3 was more accurate for white. Looks like I might have messed up the move order.

  4. Probably 7.f3 was better instead of Nc3,but I agree that Be2 should have been played first to help control the g4 square.

  5. 1st game - After 19...Bf8 Your rooks are weak, both are unprotected, 0-0-0 or Be3(hind-sight) I think that 22.Nb6 would have created alot of favorable tactics after 23.Qxg4. But I think you may have already seen the mating pattern and pursued that plan. Norm C

  6. Thanks Norm.

Not sure how 23.Qxg4 was possible, since black queen always controls
    g4.

I thought a lot about Nb6 and decided against it. Though my plan was correct, I did not execute it correctly. I sort of did not analyze ...Rxc2 at all. If I had seen that, may be I would have played Nb6 fork.
