1ST ANNUAL 2013 JUNETEENTH SCHOLASTIC CHESS CHAMPIONSHIPS - SAT. JUNE 15th!



Hosted by The Juneteenth Chess Festival, Inc., Buffalo & Erie County Public Library, Buffalo Fire Commissioner, Garnell W. Whitfield, Jr., MPYR Fashion, Willie Hutch Jones Educational Sports Clinics and The Archangel 8 Chess Academy, celebrating over 13 years of Enrichment Youth Chess programs in Amherst, Buffalo, Lockport and Niagara Falls, NY.

Join us on Saturday, June 15, 2013 at Main Place Mall, Upper Level, 390 Main St., Buffalo, NY. There is FREE Parking under the mall, Please don't leave any valuables locked in the car.

All chess players, should bring if they have, a Staunton Chess set, Algebraic chess board and digital chess clock. Limited Chess equipment! All chess players must know check and checkmate! VOLUNTEERS ARE GREATLY APPRECIATED!

FORMAT; All chess players will play 5 games, No elimination, games every 70 minutes, Game 35 with 5 second delay. USCF Rules Enforced!

FOUR SECTIONS; Under 8 - 10 years old, Under 12 to 14, Under 16 to 18 and Under 20 year olds. Birthdates are as of January 1, 2013!

ADVANCE ENTRIES ONLY! Entries must be received by Wednesday, June 12, 2013. Online entries can be made by midnight, June 13, 2013 by emailing to Knightsof64@yahoo.com, with full name, section, USCF number, email and telephone.
ENTRY FEE; $10 per player, USCF members $5.00 per player.

SCHEDULE; All players must report between 9:30am to 10am. Opening Chess Ceremonies at 10am. Games start at 10:30am, 11:30am, 12:30pm, 1:30pm and 2:30pm. Awards ceremony, photos and Trophy presentations at 4:30pm.

NEEDED are Chess players to play against the Juneteenth Public on Sunday, June 16, 2013, (FATHERS DAY)from 1pm to 3pm, outside under a tent, with tables and chairs to be provided!

    would like know about these pieces,but
    you can get 'standard' tournament(Staunton)
    pieces at the USCF site (http://www.uscf.org)
    or other on-line shops such as Chess House
    (http://www.chesshouse.com)or Wholesale Chess
    (http://www.wholesalechess.com)
