The following was just received from The American Chess School regarding this year's Second Annual Robert C. Johnson Memorial Team Rated Chess Tournament event at St. Bonaventure:
The 2010 Robert C. Johnson Memorial Chess Tournament
Location:The University Club above Hickey Dining Hall at St. Bonaventure University [#18] & Café La Verna [#17]. We’ll use the Café for skittles. Check the campus map at:

Parking: available on Juvenal Lalor Drive [and Herscher Drive] near
the Magano Centre entrance to Café La Verna and the University Club.
Parking is also available in several other areas on campus.
Entry Fee: FREE! [players in the rated sections must be current USCF members or
renew at the tournament]
Prizes:Donations will be gratefully accepted to help pay for trophies, rating
fees, and any rent charges. There is a rotating first place team trophy
and first place individual trophies in each of the three sections.
Date: Saturday, October 30, 2010
Time 9:30 am – 8:30 pm
Rounds:10 – 1:30 – 5 [In case of a tie for top team, there will be a speed chess
head-to-head playoff]
Time Control: G/90 or if you are using digital, G/85 with a 5 second delay
Format:Teams The top team will be comprised of the top 5 scorers combined from the
open and U1600 sections. At least one of the 5 scorers must play in the
open section. The unrated section will not count towards the top team.
Registration: Please register in advance with a reply to
amchess@verizon.net Please
include full name, USCF ID number, rating [if you have one], section
[Open, U1600, or Unrated], team you’re competing for, and your email
address or phone number. Important*****
There will be NO on site registration! Please register by email at least 2
days in advance.
Notes
Parking is available behind the Reilly Center and other lots on campus.
The Café La Verna [#17 on the map] will be open throughout the day.
There will be at least an extra half hour between rounds to allow time to
grab a bite. Please bring chess set, board, and chess clock if available. The University Club is not handicapped accessible. Food Café La Verna is open from 7:30AM – 2:00 AM

I will play and can drive some others who wish to participate.
ReplyDeleteAt yesterday's Niagara Falls chess club get together, there seemed to be a ground swell of interest.
So let's again have a team- "The Thundering Herd"- from Niagara-Buffalo to compete.
Barry and I will play as well. We will be driving down on Friday afternoon around 4-5 p.m. and staying at the Country Inns and Suites, across the street from St. Bonaventure. Anyone interested in staying overnight is welcome to come with us. We have a free room reservation for one more person - just let me know if you want to share a room with Barry.
