In celebration of National Chess Month, we now have an official USCF Chess Club in the Lockport Community. Details and logistics are still being worked out for hosting USCF tournaments. Pictured are the founding members of the newly established USCF affiliate, Lockport Knights Chess Club. The members welcome the chess community to join them every thurdsday nights from 6:45pm unitl 8:30pm at the Lockport Youth Recreational Center, located at Willow and Transit.

The Lockport Knights Open house will start on thursday, October 21, 2010 at 7pm until 8:30pm. A six week Chess league will start, Game 25, Quad format for the inital three games with playoffs to be completed by December 2, 2010.

Ten algebraic chess boards and chess sets are available for the chess club members. The club was the joint effort of Lucy Pencille, The Lockport Youth Recreation and The Archangel 8 Chess Academy. Over 15 registrations were collected in advance for this organization at the Charles Upson Elementary School.

The Chess club will be available to chess players of all ages and all levels. Females and minorities are strongly encouraged to join.

The club is in need of digital chess clocks, 2 Demo boards and chess tactic books. Chess instructions and lessons will be provided by The Archangel 8 Chess Academy under the direction of Michael A. Mc Duffie, US Chess Federation Certified Chess Coach and Tournament Director.

  3. I have a Chronos clock to donate - will give it to the Chess Ambassador the next time I see you. I don't have the instruction manual, but those are available on the Internet.

    Best wishes!
