August Summer Chess Festival 2011 Results

Twenty nine chess players supported the August Summer Chess Festival held at Gloria J. Parks Community Center in Buffalo, New York.

Scholastic Stars K-7 had four new players participate in a 5 rounds, Swiss, Game 30. We want to WELCOME, Noah Powley from Warren, PA and a new USCF member, Stars of India members were Kareena Cheruvu, Neel Cheruvu and Suraj Chetty.

The Scholastic Stars K-7 Undefeated Champion was Samuel E. Santora, Top Catholic Scholastic player was James W. Lyon, Top Female was Anna E. Nilsson, 2nd Place was DaRon C. Lipscomb(not pictured), 3rd Place was Alexis J. Schlaak and 4th Place was Matthew C. Schlaak.

In the August Open Section Co Champions was Harish Srinivasan and National Master Barry Davis, 3rd Place went to Erik W. Lubas, James P. Davis and Adam Chelpinski.

The Upset Leaderboard has five players knocking off higher rated players. Topping the list was newcomer Jerome J. Green scored 693 pts., in his second tournament for the year, Brian W. Sayers with 580 pts, Kevin N. Roulhac with 484 pts., Tournament Director and Chess Ambassador Michael A. Mc Duffie with 263 pts., and Harish Srinivasan with 113.5 pts.

Brian W. Sayers defeated David S. Miller(1700) for 580 pts, Jerome J. Green defeated David S. Miller(1700) for 562 pts, Kevin N. Roulhac defeated Matthew G. Peck(1592) for 484 pts, Michael A. Mc Duffie defeated Emory K. Parish(1434) for 263 pts and Harish Srinivasan draws National Master Barry Davis(2172) for 113.5 pts.

We want to say THANKS for all the continued support and growth, we get from the Buffalo Niagara region. A special thanks for all the parental support they give to the Scholastic Stars Section, for their help with pictures and keeping a watchful eye on our young developing students.
