NEW! BOY SCOUTS OF AMERICA - MERIT BADGE COUNSELOR

The Boy Scouts of America in cooperation with the United States Chess Federation has now made chess available to the Boy Scouts to earn a Chess Badge. Part of the requirements are to play 3 games of chess with written notations under the supervision of a Merit Badge Counselor.

Please welcome and congratulate Michael A. Mc Duffie, Boy Scouts of America, the first African American Merit Badge Counselor for the Western New York region. Boy Scout Leaders and Boy Scout members must fulfill all the requirements to earn the Chess Badge, Beltloop and Chess Pin!

If you know of any Scout leaders, please have them contact arcangel8chess@yahoo.com to make arrangements. Boy Scouts must wear their uniform and bring their blue merit badge card for signature.

Saturday, March 10th and March 17th will be our next tournament, held in the Main Place Mall, Please note we have reduced the advance entry fee to $15 to help encourage others to join us. Advance entry fee deadline is midnight on Thursday, March 9th and for March 17th tournament, the deadline is Thursday, March 15th, all checks are to be mailed and made payable to The Archangel 8 Chess Academy, 60F Guilford Lane, Buffalo NY with full name, section, uscf number, grade and telephone. The Cash prizes are based on 22 players in the Open and U1500 sections are $75, $35 and $15.00 for each section. USCF annual memberships can be renewed on site or in advance with The Archangel 8 Chess Academy and USCF Affiliate.
