BORDERS SEPT.SCHOLASTIC CHESS LEAGUE RESULTS

The first WNY Borders Scholastic September Chess League attracted 16 players, some of the beginners took lessons, while the others competed tournament play. The next monthly chess league meeting will be Saturday, October 25, 2008 from 12:30pm until 4:30pm, Borders Bookstore, 3480 Amelia Drive, Orchard Park NY (off Rt 219 and Milestrip). Some refreshments and special treats were provided by Borders.

Grades ranged from 1st grader to 8th graders. Four players were female, here is a list of the nine schools that were represented, Buffalo United Charter, City Honors, Global Concept Charter, Homeschool, Lindbergh, Martin Luther King Jr. #39, Nardin Academy, Olmstead and Our Lady of Victory.

The current League Leaders are as follows;

First place, Richard H. Herko, Global Concepts Charter, 2pts, Undefeated.

Second Place tie, William J. Deuschle, Nardin Academy, and Trevor D. Cohn, Lindbergh, 1.5pts.

Fourth Place tie, Preston Gifford Olmstead, David E. Primosch Jr. Global Concepts, Chase Gifford City Honors, Marissa Herko Our Lady of Victory, Sam E. Santora Homeschool, all with one point, and Shakyle E. Topps Buffalo United Charter and Mikayla C. Brown, Martin Luther King Jr #39.

Entry fee is $5.00 in advance for October 25th, 2008, please make checks payable to: Archangel 8 Chess Academy, BSCL, 60F Guilford Lane, Buffalo NY 14221. Please include your childs full name, age, grade, school, USCF ID number and USCF rating if current member.
