The results are also on the USCF site and everyone's ratings have been appropriately updated. Congrats to David Biddle who raised his rating the most- up 43 points!

Thanks for that extremely quick posting of the scores. I wonder now how the Main place tournament scores will be updated since that had occurred before this tournament?.
ReplyDeleteAs you see on your tournament history page, the NO Snow tournament has a double asterisk next to it. Recently rated events that have not yet been rerated into chronological order are indicated with a double asterisk (**) and will be shown in the order in which they were rated. The post-event ratings from those events will generally change when they are rerated.
ReplyDeleteThis means the ratings computer will rate the December Main Place Mall games as the ratings each player had at that time. It then generates a new rating for you. This new rating will be the one you actually went into the January tournament with. Then it will rerate the players again for each's January and subsequent play with the updated ratings. Therefore although your rating was pre January tournament of 1666 and now post tournament 1652, it will again change, even if you never play another tournament game. It could go up if the players whom you played had higher ratings than was seen pre January tournament. Of course it could go down also if the players whom you played were actually lower rated than you thought. So after the December tournament is submitted, when you again check this tournamnet's cross table you will see that you will not be listed as 1666->1652 but rather hopefully something like 1688->1677 or even 1650->1677 depending on how you and/or your opponents played in the as yet unreported December games.
Hope that helps.
No real upsets in this tourny. Notice how the seed numbers are almost identical to the place they finished.
ReplyDeleteThanks again to Dr. Mark for the use of his office and his untiring promotion of local chess.
Thanks Mark for that detailed explanation. I wonder when those will be posted but I expect it to be there atleast before the next Main place mall tournament on jan 20th!!.
