Buffalo April Swiss Results

Forty eight players competed in the Buffalo April Swiss held April 25 at the Educational Opportunity Center in downtown Buffalo. The Open section was won by National Master Eddie Mark , second place was taken by Expert Vance Williams. Upsets in the Open section were Ben Havey (1517) over Vance Williams (2101) David Biddle (1538) over David Miller (1728) and Barry Davis (2142) over Lionel Davis (2242). The U1450 section was won by Matthew Peck (1399) who hadn't played in 10 years. There was a three way tie for second between James Davis, Ryan Madden and Joe Covley. In the Scholastic section Ryan Palmisano was a tour de force with a perfect 5-0 score to take the 1st place trophy, Elementary school sensation Sam Santora continued his winning ways to take the 2nd place trophy and Joseph Matte from Global Concepts Charter School took the third place trophy. In the unrated section Alexis Matte from the Global Concepts Charter School ran roughshod over the opposition with a perfect 5-0 score and took home the 1st place certificate, 2nd went to Mrgan Meloon and third to Javier Gonzales both from Global Concepts Charter School. Many thanks to all that helped make this tournament a success: Bob Simpson for donations, Asal Nassir for trophies, Sandra Bunkley of E.O.C. for the site, Antonio Cirillo of Global Concepts Charter School for the bus load of kids and Doug Bowers for bringing his players. Also thank you to Jenn Santora and all the parents who helped as well as all the participants.
